The Secret Service theme

C'est la première compilation aussi complète de Barry Gray à voir le jour. En 40 plages, Stand by for Action ! propose reprend les thèmes les plus connus du compositeur attitré des séries télévisées de Gerry Anderson : Four Feather Falls, Supercar, Fireball XL5, Stingray, Thunderbirds (Les Sentinelles de l'air), Captain Scarlet, Joe 90, The Secret Service, UFO et Space : 1999 (Cosmos 1999).

Le grand mérite de cette compilation éditée par Silva Screen est d'offrir un panel complet des compositions télévisées de Gray, en ce compris celles qui figuraient que sur les CD réalisés par le club Fanderson. Ceux-ci n'avaient pas été commercialisés au sens strict du terme puisqu'ils étaient réservés aux seuls membres de Fanderson.

Le CD est accompagné d'un livret de 16 pages détaillant chacune des séries présentées et les plages musicales qui en sont extraites. L'album est également disponible en téléchargement.

Introuvable dans le commerce, ce CD a été offert aux membres du club britannique Fanderson en 2004. Il regroupe des thèmes et musiques des séries produites par Gerry Anderson; séries auxquelles ce fan-club est consacré.

On y trouve des compositions écrites pour UFO, Captain Scarlet, Supercar, Terrahawks, Space : 1999, Thunderbirds et Fireball XL5.

Si quatre pistes sont inédites en CD (dont Sleeping Astronauts, à la fois entendu dans un épisode d'UFO et dans le long métrage "Journey to the far side of the sun"), les autres sont extraites des CD édités par Fanderson et par Silva Screen Records.

S'il n'y a plus de musique de Supercar, le CD présente deux extraits de Joe 90 dont la b.o. allait être éditée l'année suivante par Silva Screen Records.
